Brandon Arkell is 31, and living in Seattle, which is in Washington (USA).
Brandon Arkell's Profile I'd like to get to know a pagan male who can introduce me to the community and to its beliefs and practices. I consider myself "spiritual but non-religious", but I would like to find a more distinct and definitive collection of traditions in which to put my beliefs into practice. I think we live in a ritual-poor society, and a tradition which emphasised more ceremony and ritual, the importance of action, natural cycles, and a connection with the environment would be more satisfying to me.
I have lots of hobbies. You'll never find me doing these trendy extreme sports like rock-climbing, waterskiing, or skydiving, but I do enjoy nature walks through a sunlit forest or along a moonlit beach. I'm also an avid writer. I write for a living anyway, but I also like to write plays, mostly burlesque parodies or dramatic comedies with underlying social commentaries that involve wronged women or heroines who turn the tables on their oppressors. Anything to do with gender role reversal. A lot of my inspiration comes from comic books, mid-twentieth century film, and pulp fiction.
I'm also a fan of documentaries and anything to do with astronomy or cosmology. I could watch space documentaries till the cows come home. As far as fiction goes, I love science-fiction and fantasy, probably because I have a very vibrant imagination.
I'm always reading something. Perhaps my favourite author of all time is Edgar Allen Poe--I see him as the Stephen King of suspense-horror--and my favourite poet is the divine Ms. Sylvia Plath. Most of all, though, I love folklore, fantasy, and medieval literature, like "The Mabinogion"--anything before the more humanistic works of the Renaissance. There's something unapologetically cryptic, mysterious, and otherworldly about the works from this period.
I'd like to meet somebody with a dark, wry sense of humour who knows how to tell truly wicked jokes, or who at least gets them. Ideally he'd be laid back and comfortable with being different, or with being who he is. He would buck the trend of what's considered "masculine" and embrace the unconventional. He may even have a few eccentricities that make him unique and adorable. Ultimately he would be true to himself.
I'm a very loyal, strictly monogamous person, so I'd like to meet somebody with the same tendencies--I seek the experience of two people coming together or reflecting one another like a mirror image, of "finding your other half", and for me this is in a monogamous commitment. Also, I don't know much about astrology, but I'm a Sagittarius in case that has any bearing on anything. I guess they're supposed to be very restless and philosophical? I do love to travel.
Anyway, don't hesitate at all to send me a message and say hello.
All the best! |
